PLAXIS 2D

2D Suite is a PLAXIS Software package which includes PLAXIS 2D V9, Dynamics, and PlaxFlow. It makes up a finite element package intended for the two dimensional analysis of deformation and stability in geotechnical engineering. It is a robust and user-friendly finite element package, developed for Geotechnical Engineering. It offers the tools professionals need in today’s and tomorrow’s world of high-tech building, to analyse complex projects.

 

PLAXIS 2D V9

Geotechnical applications require advanced constitutive models for the simulation of the non linear, time dependent and anisotropic behaviour of soils and/or rock. In addition, since soil is a multi phase material, special procedures are required to deal with hydrostatic and non hydrostatic pore pressures in the soil.

Although the modelling of the soil itself is an important issue, many projects involve the modelling of structures and the interaction between the structures and the soil.

 

Dynamics Module

The PLAXIS Dynamics Module is an extension to PLAXIS V9. It offers the tools to analyse the propagation of waves through the soil and their influence on structures. This allows for the analysis of seismic loading as well as vibrations due to construction activities.

 

PlaxFlow

PLAXIS PlaxFlow is a finite element package that can be used to analyse two-dimensional unsaturated and time-dependent groundwater flow. It is specially designed for use by geotechnical engineers and offers easy input of parameters. PLAXIS PlaxFlow can be used as a stand-alone program, or in combination with PLAXIS V9. This offers the possibility to take into account the influence of flow on soil deformation and stability.

PLAXIS 3D

The 3D Suite package contains the programs 3DTunnel and 3DFoundation. These programs combine to form a 3D geotechnical finite element package especially designed for the three-dimensional analysis of deformation and stability in tunnel & foundation projects.

PLAXIS 3D Tunnel

Although the modelling of the soil itself is an important issue, many tunnel projects involve the modelling of structures and the interaction between the structures and the soil. PLAXIS 3D Tunnel is equipped with special features to deal with the numerous aspects of complex geotechnical structures. In this version new features have been added to the existing ones, including 3D consolidation, 3D groundwater flow and updated mesh.

 

PLAXIS 3D Foundation

PLAXIS 3D Foundation forms the interaction between an upper structure and the soil. Settlements depend on local soil conditions and on the construction method. Especially for pile-raft foundations there is an important interplay between the pile, the raft and the soil to support the forces from the upper structure. In this interplay deformations are a key factor. Such a situation can only be analysed effectively by means of three-dimensional finite element calculations in which proper models are incorporated to simulate soil behaviour and soil-structure interaction. The PLAXIS 3D Foundation program offers these facilities.
